BEST PIECE OF CREATIVE WORK
I haven't necessarily done much art or design. But I suppose a short story can be considered as a piece of creative work. So, I have chosen this as my best creative work coming into the course because I enjoyed the creative process whilst writing it immensely. The story is of the crime fiction genre however the crime is not the focus of the narrative. It is more about the relationship between two friends/colleagues which is interesting because one is more dominant intellectually. The story is less serious and more humorous and focuses on the conventions of the genre. It is like a Sherlock story with a female protagonist, and it's probably written not as well as a Sherlock story. I can't say it's the best bit of writing because that's for the reader to interpret, but I enjoyed writing it.
A GREAT PIECE OF ARCHITECTURE
It's difficult to choose one piece of great architecture. So, I have chosen an image of a building which inspires me and in my opinion is great. The above image is of the 18th century church Kizhi Pogost in Karelia, Russia. The reason why I have chosen it is because religious buildings; including mosques, shrines, temples, extend from the primary functional purpose of shelter to a secondary representational function which has philosophical, spiritual and sentimental values for people. Although grand classical architecture is now symbolic of a bygone era, the intricate designs of churches and mosques are still relevant today as the ideologies which are represented by theses buildings remain relevant for many people.
AN ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH OF SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL
The above photograph was taken last September on our school Formal night. My friends and I had just left the venue in a limousine and were headed for the city. I think that most cities , including Sydney, look more beautiful at night. I love this image because it's an animated shot which captures the essence of Sydney at night. Sydney at night is fast moving yet subdued and moody. It was a great night and I love Sydney at night!
